I followed Becky's instructions above and it was super quick to make and delicious although I do prefer the butter coffee. That being said, I will make it again.

And . . . RAW EGGS??? That sounds fairly dicey to me, even with boiling water.

I made this using cocoa, wasn't to nice then I added in a teaspoon of monkfruit sweetener and it turned out great!
I used my stick blender. I started blending then added in the boiling water and had no issues with the egg cooking.105

I find this recipe is a good base for a dairy-free mochaccino: I swap the pumpking pie spice for pure cocoa and add freshly brewed french press coffee instead of plain boiling water. Delightful!

Hi just wanted to ask...
I can't find anything in the listed ingredient that would make the drink like in the picture above. Am I supposed to add cocoa powder? chocolate bar to blend together with everything?Ingredients
1 egg
1 tbsp coconut oil
175 ml boiling water
½ pinch vanilla extract
½ tsp pumpkin pie spice or ground gingerReply: #116

I made this (half recipe) with coffee instead of water and a pinch of salt and sweetener. It was good! I used my hand blender in a large glass measuring cup, blending egg and spice first then adding hot coffee and oil while blending. Nice and foamy and not eggy.

Hi Ben if you look beside the recipe under instructions it says TIPS: If you’re craving hot chocolate, or just want a plain latte, replace the spices with 1 tablespoon of cocoa or instant coffee. Voila!
I took the recipe to be a base for making a coffee or hot chocolate your choice. The picture looks like they added coffee or unsweetened cocoa and some heavy whipping cream and dark chocolate shavings or sprinkled spices on top to me. Hope this helps you!

Yes, the eggs are raw. If this is a concern for you, choose pasteurized eggs.

I am so confused. I see not nothing in the ingredients about boiling water. I only see 1 1/2 cups of coffee. Please clarify! Thanks.

Yes, you use 1 1/2 cups of ready to drink hot coffee (not the powder or beans). Hope this helps!

This recipe was updated in early March to include the coffee directly in the recipe, removing the need for the Tips.

When you add the hot coffee, it should melt the coconut oil.

I did this with chai tea, substituted butter for coconut oil, and added Monkfruit sweetener and heavy cream. It was heavenly!

Wow, breakfast in a cup! OR anytime of day for that matter. When I stumbled across a Vietnamese Coffee video on youtube I thought this is crazy and disgusting although slightly different from this recipe. I watched it and then read the comments; people were raving about how much they need this coffee since it was so incredible. I watched a few more and then a few Scandinavian Coffee videos, out of more curiosity, and thought, "I wonder what Diet Doctor has?" This recipe came up in my search. It uses the entire egg which made me feel better since the others throw away either the egg whites or everything, except the liquid, in the end. I will admit as I made this recipe I still had reservations in my mind about the taste from mixing all of this together. OMG!! This coffee is amazing and will become a staple in my day to day morning drink. This is an absolute MUST try!!

Like some others here, I was a bit dubious about egg in coffee! But it’s amazing how latte-like it is. I make sure I get everything warm first, otherwise the drink is a bit too cool for me. So, the egg at room temperature, boiling water in the jug I’m going to blend it all in, boiling water in the final cup I’ll drink out of and the coconut oil melted first. I add the egg, oil, spices (I use 1/4 tsp vanilla extract) to the warm jug and use a stick blender to get started. Then I add my espresso shot I’ve made up to volume with hot water. After a few seconds of blending, I pour into my pre-warmed cup and I get a lovely foam on top. Delicious and filling—no sweetener needed!😋

This is my go-to breakfast when I'm burned out and in no mood to cook. I usually make it as specified in the old instructions, with instant coffee (and a dab of coacoa and stevia) and boiling water poured into the mixer as it's going, to pasteurize the eggs. It comes out a bit foamy but delicious!
