BROOKINGS, SD – South Dakota State track and field will open its outdoor season at six different meets across the country, with action kicking off on Thursday and lasting through Saturday.
First on the lineup is the Emporia State Relays, where the running events will start at 10 a.m. on Thursday and field events will follow at 11:30 a.m.
Thursday evening will also be the first day of the 2024 Washington Distance Carnival at Washington University in St. Louis. Events begin at 8:10 p.m. on Thursday and resume at 12:10 p.m. on Friday.
In California, athletes will compete in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic—beginning at 9:30 a.m. PT on Friday and 11:30 a.m. PT on Saturday—and the Stanford Invitational, which starts at 10:30 a.m. PT on Friday and 10 a.m. PT on Saturday.
Finally, two meets are on deck for SDSU in Texas. The Texas Relays in Austin are set to start at 9 a.m. on Friday and 8:15 a.m. on Saturday while the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos kicks off at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
MEN PICKED THIRD, WOMEN FOURTH IN PRESEASON POLL: The Jackrabbit men were chosen to finish third while the women were picked to finish fourth in the 2024 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Poll, league officials announced on March 6.

A LOOK AHEAD: SDSU will head south for the USD Early Bird meet on April 5 and 6 in Vermillion.
